Animal Ambassador Program

Our Animal Ambassadors play an important role in helping children make the connection between their daily activities and the impact they, and the rest of us, have on the natural world. In turn, our animal handlers, trainers and care attendants each play a key role in caring for the Ambassadors. Whether they’re at the Earth Rangers Centre or out at a show, the animals’ well-being is always their primary concern.

When new animals join Earth Rangers, they begin an extensive training program that focuses on nurturing their natural behaviours. Our training methods are based on positive reinforcement and move at each animal’s individual pace to ensure an enriching experience.

All of our Ambassadors are non-releasable and predominantly come to us from captive breeding or rehabilitation programs. This means that for different reasons they cannot be released back into the wild. Instead, they inspire hundreds of thousands of children every year to take action to protect their fellow species and their habitats (read the article Animal Ambassador Spotlight to find out how).
