At Earth Rangers, we are committed to protecting the privacy of all users of our EarthRangers.org site (“Earth Rangers Site”) by complying with all applicable privacy laws and regulations in Canada, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act. The purpose of this policy (“Privacy Policy”) is to provide information regarding the types of information that we collect from users, our use of such information, and when we may disclose such information.   Earth Rangers also operates additional sites, including the Earth Rangers.com site, that is mainly geared towards children, and for which a specific children’s privacy policy is in place.

What type of personal information do we collect from users?

In order to subscribe to some of the features (including newsletters) on our sites, users will have to provide their first name and email address.

Only when a user wishes to donate to Earth Rangers will they be required to provide additional information including their first and last name, address, phone number and credit card information.  

Earth Rangers also employs cookies on the Earth Rangers Site to track the number of visitors to the Earth Rangers Site.  We do not extract personal information through the use of cookies.

For what purposes do we use information collected from users?

We collect personal information from users only for the purposes of facilitating requests they have made for electronic content (including newsletters and alerts) and for soliciting donations to Earth Rangers.  Where you do not request any electronic content or do not wish to provide a donation, you are not required to provide any personal information to Earth Rangers.  We will inform you of the purposes for which we collect your information at the time you are providing it.

How do we obtain your consent?

We will always obtain explicit consent from users to the collection of your personal information.  Specifically, you will be asked to affirm your consent to the provision of the above identified personal information at the time you are providing it.

Will we disclose the information collected from users?

We will only disclose the information collected from users to employees and independent contractors of Earth Rangers, affiliates and subsidiaries of Earth Rangers and our third party service providers, and only in furtherance of the provision of business or technical support functions for Earth Rangers.  Furthermore, we may be required to disclose personal information where required by law.

What safeguards are in place when dealing with third parties?

Any third party that performs a service for Earth Rangers will be bound contractually to ensure that your personal information is handled in the same manner as if it were being handled by Earth Rangers.

How long do we keep your personal information for?

We have developed policies whereby we will store your personal information in a secure manner for as long as reasonably necessary.

Can a user review their personal information?

If a user requests in writing, Earth Rangers will make available the personal information that is on file for the user.  Where a user wishes to correct the personal information that is on file, they can contact us at the contact information provided below.

We ensure that any information that is collected from users has physical, and electronic safeguards that ensure that the information remains securely protected.  Through our safeguards we will aim to ensure that your personal information is not modified, copied, used or disclosed in an unauthorized manner.
