Additional Activities
Earth Rangers has partnered with JUMP Math*
to develop curriculum-linked, classroom activities. The goal of these
lessons is to further enhance the overall experience of the Earth
Rangers School Show and to inspire in students a commitment to
responsible environmental citizenship.
These unique activities are designed to help students:
- Develop an appreciation for the interconnectedness of all life on Earth
- Understand how their actions impact the environment, including plants, animals and other humans
- Become active in making positive changes in their own lives and in their communities
The lessons are division-specific (Primary, Junior, Intermediate)
and cover topics such as understanding biodiveristy, energy loss and
pollution, as well as how they affect food webs. We believe that the
integration of mathematics in classroom activities will help teachers
to better translate this information into straightforward concepts that
students will understand.
Earth Rangers recommends completing Lessons 1 & 2 as pre-show
activities. After seeing our show, students should be well-equipped to
complete Lesson 3.
Each activity is accompanied by a corresponding Blackline Master
(BLM), containing graphs or images that are used to help facilitate the
lesson. Reference to these supporting materials are embedded in the
lessons themselves.
